Lee Kum Kee Seasoned Soy Sauce for Seafood was actually invented by Mr. Lee Man Tat, the third generation of Lee Kum Kee. In the 1970s, Mr. Lee ate a delicious steamed fish in the United States. He found that the process of mixing the soy sauce for the steamed fish was complicated and cannot be preserved for long. So he decided to develop a soy sauce particular for steaming fish. After returning to Hong Kong, Mr. Lee visited a number of high-end restaurants and tasted numerous steamed fishes. As different restaurants have their own style, after repeated tests and rounds of prototype development, the Lee Kum Kee Seasoned Soy Sauce was finally born.
